It's a bonus, not a requirement. Python is great in that case because it
reduces the maintenance overhead when compared to C. But when you're
integrating an already existing tool, the overhead is low anyway...

Right, but I can tell you from the start, unless it provides at least
the same amount of features Firestarter does (or even the current tool),
I don't see your tool getting in the distro.
