Unfortunately I forgot to turn on Gemini until halfway through this
meeting. During the first half of the meeting, we discussed outstanding
Fedora 43 blocker bugs. Below is the summary of the second half of the
meeting.

Summary

Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) and Michael Catanzaro discussed the issue of
access to Fedora repositories in blocked countries and the status of
Fedora 43 wallpapers. Michael Catanzaro, Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo), and
Matthias Clasen agreed to reject the proposal to revert to ext4 + LVM
as the default file system, and Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) reported that
Orca is not working in the Fedora 43 Beta. Veronika Holatkova reminded
the group about the Fedora Linux 43 final freeze.

Details

Access to Fedora Repositories in Blocked Countries

The Working Group discussed the mismatch between countries blocked by
Fedora mirrors vs. countries blocked by Cisco. Michael Catanzaro
decided to not post Gemini's summary of the discussion on this mailing
list.

Fedora 43 Wallpapers

Michael Catanzaro brought up the wallpaper issue for Fedora 43, noting
that Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) and Allan had a shared action item to
report on their conversation with the wallpaper team. Neal Gompa (Conan
Kudo) confirmed discussions with the team about aligning on art style
and incorporating color data for HDR, mentioning that the team
initially misunderstood the request for color profile data but that it
would be included in Fedora 43 wallpapers. Matthias Clasen thanked Neal
Gompa (Conan Kudo) for facilitating this, and Michael Catanzaro
requested a status update in the issue report.

XFS + LVM as Default File System Proposal

Michael Catanzaro proposed rejecting the suggestion to revert to XFS +
LVM as the default file system. Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) and Matthias
Clasen agreed that the proposal should be rejected and closed, as the
underlying issue that prompted the suggestion, a "btrfs mishap," had
already been addressed and fixed. Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) clarified
that the issue was not data loss but a problem with log replay, which
has since been resolved.

Orca Not Working in Fedora 43 Beta

Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) reported a new issue regarding Orca, a screen
reader, not working in the Fedora 43 Beta. Matthias Clasen noted that
they had been doing extensive accessibility work and had Orca running
on their system, suggesting the issue might be related to a late fix
for launching Orca that may not have made it into the beta. Michael
Catanzaro stated that the fix should be present in the beta, and Neal
Gompa (Conan Kudo) stressed the seriousness of a non-functional screen
reader at the welcome screen, emphasizing the need for a formal bug
report in Red Hat Bugzilla if confirmed.

Fedora Linux 43 Final Freeze

Veronika Holatkova reminded the group about the Fedora Linux 43 final
freeze scheduled for October 7th, highlighting its proximity. Matthias
Clasen explained the significance of the freeze period, noting that it
is a phase where the team focuses exclusively on resolving blocker bugs
to prepare for the Fedora 43 release in November.

Suggested next steps

Neal Gompa (Conan Kudo) will post the status update regarding the
desktop wallpapers in the issue report to add context.
