When we turn the new feature ON, the %__brp_* (build-root-processing) logic (and any other post-install tasks) will permanently run before %check (which is executed later using --short-circuit). There is a chance that the __brp logic breaks the builddir (if that is what you meant?), causing the later `make check` to stop working and the build to fail. I would consider this a bug in either the package or its dependency stack, though I am not entirely sure how severe those issues might be—or if they even exist. This deserves a bit more attention first; I plan to run some mass rebuild experiments before proposing to turn this ON in Fedora.
