Fedora 44 Desktop must be installed as Server (because of the poor disk management in the installer)?

I wanted to install Fedora 44 MATE on a disk where another system was previously installed, and where partitions for the new system (this Fedora 44) were prepared. And I imagined that I would just format these partitions (and mount other existing ones somewhere under /mnt/). Unfortunately, it seems that the Fedora MATE installer has an exceptionally bad solution for the system location on the disk and that the existing partitions cannot be used. So I finally installed Fedora 44 Server, where fortunately the previous proven method remained (standard and blivet), and then installed the things needed for the desktop. Everything works - but it's probably not the best way to install a desktop. Did I do something wrong?
