Yes, I do have an idea of what AD is for, though I hadn't heard of IdM. However the OP has only mentioned his workstation, not a lab context or similar. Be that as it may, in the case of a /etc/sudoers file the administrator can configure it to not require a password from members of the wheel group, which is what I showed in my example.
