20 - 80 bytes larger.  Thus I suspect it is all metadata stuff.

These are 5min recordings.  She has hour long ones.

mp3 for both.  But I suspect something new in metadata.  So I probably 
need some tool that can compare metadata between the two versions.  
Other than what shows up in VLC Info on the files.

I think it is something in the underlying library ver.  Something "new" 
to stuff into the metadata.
