Why?
Some applications need to resolve it. If it is an FQDN that is in the 
global DNS, it will work (it will resolve to the public IP addresses of 
the system), but for anything else it needs these entries or it will 
fail in installations without the myhostname part in nsswitch.conf. This 
is from systemd and not present in some other Linux systems.
