and the first bug report comment, inxi makes it clear (at least to me) that the
modesetting DIX is my employed display driver.

I just installed xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-1.0.17-11.fc41 to see if it makes any
difference, forcing its use via /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/. It made no difference
apparent to me, so I removed the config and the nouveau DDX rpm, which normally I
don't have installed.

IME, the modesetting DIX works perfectly well on GeForce GPUs older than 8.
