Margaret, Like Mark I am unfamiliar with "udisks" but a quick Googling seems to indicate that it's a usb device? http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/udisks http://linuxsoft.cern.ch/cern/updates/slc60beta/x86_64/RPMS/repoview/udisks.html If that is the case, you may need to load the "usb-storage" module (modprobe usb-storage). If this is in fact a usb device, then the system will see it, but not the partitions which seems to be the behavior you are describing. I hope this helps!
