RH AS2.1 on Intel "Lion" System

I am attempting to install RH AS2.1 on an Intel Lion Ia64 4 way machine.
The system is equipped with an on-board Qlogic 64 bit SCSI 12160 Ultra
SCSI-3 controller.  I am experiencing serious problems when I try to install
-- when the QLA1280 driver tries to load the system either crashes
instantly, depending on my termination settings, or the install proceeds to
the point where I am able to manually select a drivers.

I select the QLA1280 module, pass the "-noprobe" parameter, the module
appears to load normally, and the install proceeeds, however, the attached
drive(s) are not located.  At this point the installation fails and forces a
restart.

I have tired two different disks: IBMs and Seagte, both produce the same
results.  I have also tried all of the various termination settings: auto,
enabled and high only, but again, the problem persists.

I have been able to successfuly install RH 7.3, and Windows XP64 on this
system without a problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
