There was an HP-specific issue of rh-7.2 for rx2600/zx6000 which is bootable, which I am still running, but I believe it is considered out of date, and probably will not support CPU upgrades.  I believe that the standard rh-7.2 did not include the necessary drivers for the hp machines.

The kernel in 7.2 does not support the HP Itanium2 boxes. You'd have to 
use at least the kernel from Red Hat Linux Advanced Server/Advanced
Workstation.
