We're using linux kernel 2.4.18 (IA64 020508 patch) on RedHat 7.1, and we've found that when the command "cat /dev/mem > /dev/null" is used the server (HP Workstation i2000) crashes (no message is displayed, it just freezes). xdm uses /dev/mem to get entropy so we detected the problem because the server died when any user tried to login to the server using the X chooser. Has anybody experienced the same problem ? Thanks in advance, Jose ____________________________________________________________________________ Jose A.
