Based on ythe info from you, I downloaded RHEL AS 4.0 Update 5 and everthing worked out fine. The java that comes with the OS shows version info as:- java version "1.4.2" gcj (GCC) 3.4.6 20060404 (Red Hat 3.4.6-8) Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc. This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Now, when I am trying to runInstaller for Oracle 10g Release 2 on my server, the OUI does not start and it gives a message like:- # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine: # # SIGILL (0x4) at pc=0x20000000039a4070, pid=21337, tid=2305843009214272384 # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (1.4.2_10-b03 mixed mode) # Problematic frame: I am unable to get over this. I am downloading j2sdk-1_4_2_10-linux-ia64.bin, but is this going to work. Secondly, we propose to form a cluster of 2 nodes, i guess i have to be doing the clustering first..i have Redhat Cluster Suite. Under<br>RHEL4 U4 /boot was not mounted by using a label so you should not need<br>to label it anyway (under RHEL4 U5 however it does us a label FYI). <br><br>I suggest trying a fresh install and tell the installer to remove all<br>existing partitions and create new ones.
