I think if we go into this direction, with using itstool, and po4a conversion capabiities to PO - that will mean we have to rethink some grouping and standard operation procedures. If we gonna use Zanata for mass translation with cooperative solution (zanata ui, alpha editor), that is able to transform sources, and provide translated materials - that would be amazing. Technically if Zanata will be able to use this two, that would be new era... For example: https://po4a.alioth.debian.org/man/man3/Locale::Po4a::Texinfo.3pm.php - Texinfo support in the 0.51 po4a already for manuals. But this is only my view.
