Dual Boot

A few days ago I wrote about wanting to dual boot Linux and Windows 98. Would it work to copy the "mount" and "parted" (parted is my repartitioning agent) to a floppy, mount the floppy, unmount the root partition, resize it, then mount it again? I cannot resize the root partition until it is unmounted. thanks
