If the Intel SE440BX is in the "PC" class of computers, then Linux 
should work.  Otherwise, you probably should search the 'Net and 
HOWTO archives.

The simplest and easiest way to test is to use a floppy boot disk.  
It doesn't matter if your testing boot disk is a DOS one or a Linux 
one such as Tomsrtbt.  You can also make the RH Linux boot floppies 
from the files on the the first CD ROM.  To do that, look in the 
"images" directory for the images ("ghosted") files ending with 
".img".  You can make the floppies using the rawrite utility for 
DOS that is in the "dosutils" directory.  Reference "rawrite.doc".  
It is plain text.  The floppies can also be made with *nix using 
the "dd" command.  I don't know if Scaldera has "dd".  If it does 
then commands will be like:

  dd  if=/mnt/cdrom/images/boot.img  of=/dev/fd0  bs=1440

(for the first image "boot.img"... and etc.)

Adjust the mount for the input file "if", and the output to floppy 
"of" accordingly.  I've never used SCO myself, except for rare 
occasions.  If you do it with DOS, then follow the usual 
conventions like using "D:" for the CD drive and "A:" for the 
floppy drive with rawrite.

Both rawrite and dd do a bit-by-bit copy so the floppy does not 
need to be properly formatted beforehand.
