Eric,

Does it fail at *exactly* the same point? Have you tried another set of
media to be sure the CD is sound? 

Can you see any console output as it happens?

Try these things:

1) Text mode install
2) New CD
3) Install from network
4) Another test machine

When you get near the point that it fails each time, begin watching the
console for errors (ctl + alt + f1/2/3)
