I LIKE that! I haven't made any real moves yet, but plan to run up Linux very soon here. I love your training approach, too! If I learned just one little thing about Linux every time I had a windows machine or app crash here, I could be writing books on Linux!! Eric, I'd be very interested in a few more details about what you have been doing there. What 'flavor' of Linux have you been installing? What sorts of hardware are you installing on? and what Windows/MS applications have you found suitable replacements for? Thanks in advance... -Steve Steven R. After a day or two of effort we got the machine up and running. Wow! It definitely blows our MS machines away in terms of stability and performance. A week of heavy application installation and network usage with no crashes and no reboots. Our training consists of everyone sitting down at the Linux machine and learning 1 new thing in Linux every time their Windows machine crashes or requires a reboot. This is working very well. So...we're now working on the next couple of machines. We had previously migrated to Star Office because of stability problems with MS Office, so we don't have that obstacle. Only a few Windows-only legacy tools remain, but I doubt we'[one of my legacy Windows apps just crashed and hung up my computer requiring a control-alt-del intervention]ll ever purchase another piece of software on that platform. _______________________________________________ Redhat-migration-list mailing list [email protected] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-migration-list
