A bit more-

I'm running RH 8.0 on a moderate use farm
for testing, and it appears to be stable after
about 2 months of operation. It is running a
2.4.20 kernel. I'm currently NATing, but will
get involved in testing DR when the project
queue empties a bit, and NAT proves to get
bearish.

I do not think that anything out there
now compares to when RH released pirahna with 6.x
in terms of easier to implement and whatnot, but
if that's what you've got to compare against, then
the newer versions will make you happy...
