One question, actually not related to the non-working FOS: why don't you
use the initscript to start/stop the DB ? IMHO, "service postgresql
start/stop" is way more handy (and bulletproof) than your scripts.

Anyway. So, you're certain your external script isn't called but the
logs don't show anything relevant.

Step 1 : get piranha sources, edit util.c and uncomment the piranha_log
call in logArgv. Build and install (backup your config). Edit the init
script in order to start pulse in verbose mode. Start pulse.

Step 2 : have a look at the logs, send us relevant exerpts.

Step 3 : do a ps auxww | grep -E '(pulse|fos|nanny)' and send the result
to the list.

I'm confident your problem is a bug I've fixed related to missing args.
After pulse startup, you might not found any nanny (the reason why your
script isn't called). The logs will tell us.

If this is really the problem (using an external script with a buggy
piranha), have a look at the list archives, you'll find a patch I've
written fixing this (and other things).
