I've pondered this type of solution, and when funds are available I plan it as such: Storage would be: SAN Based, LUN is write only for MASTER server, READ for real servers. I used fairly inexpensive machines for the LVS portion. DELL's low end suits it fine.. PE350 Although I use fairly large machines for the web farm (PE6650), for file serving I'd probably use something a bit smaller. This depends on your use, for if you want to do CIFS (windows shares), you may want t couple of 4-proc boxes as real servers... Samba is quite CPU intensive... Anyhow.. Hope it helps a bit...
