Hi Brian ..thanks a million for your prompt reply. At the moment I'm still waiting for the midrange systems to arrive at the premises. Therefore Im trying to visualize the fact that before doing the actual thingee on the midrange systems can I run the active/active or active/passive configurations on 2 simple intel based pc's with their regular hard-drives. Mind you there's no SAN involved just simple intel based regular pc's talking to each other via ethernet and that it. Hope I clearified myself if not let me know. Cheers: Munir _____________________________________________________________________ Brian Lalor <[email protected]> wrote: On Feb 12, 2004, at 2:15 AM, Munir Hatmi wrote: > Please bear with me when I ask this question only because Im > really new to the cluster manager and wondering if I can install/or do > clustering (basically) with 2 simple intel based pc's and then do the > actual clustering on the Midrange systems. Good morning, Munir. I think you and I are the only ones on the list; my last question went echoing off into the ether with nary a response. I'm not sure I understand your question. First, are you referring to load balancing with LVS (which is what Piranha is) or high availability in an active/passive configuration (what "Red Hat Cluster Manager" is)? Second, please clarify your terminology; with LVS, the server that does the routing and actual load balancing is called the "director". The machines actually serving requests are known as the "real servers" or "real-servers". Not trying to be pedantic, just clear things up. -- Brian Lalor Web Portal Analyst Delta Faucet Co.
