/usr directory

I am having a Redhat Linux 9 server which is working as a Java Based
Application Server....
Over the last few days my /usr directory is showing a significant increase
in disk space
i checked out each and every directoy ...some of the directories are very
important ...could anyone
suggest me how can i decrease my /usr space ...
