What is default route?

You may be connected but you may have to tell the Linux box to use the =
PPP connection as your default gateway.

Subject: Connection Problem with ADSL Modem

I am trying to connect a DSL-300G ADSL modem to my computer running =
RedHat Linux 8.0 through a network card at home. Even though I have =
activated the ADSL modem for my dial up connection, I still cannot surf =
the internet anyway. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this =
technical problem so far? Here are the details on my terminal as =
follows:

  [root@localhost root]# ifconfig
eth0 Link encap: Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:BA:BD:4C:16

I will appreciate it very much if you can give me some suggestions to =
solve such this problem.
Thank you very much and Merry Christmas to all of you.
