Kudzu problem

Hi all,
on a desktop machine I've recently replaced my old ide cdrom with a ide cd
burner. To burn anything I need scsi over ide: thus I've changed the /dev/cdrom
link from /dev/hdc to /dev/sr0. Everything works fine until I reboot the
machine: then kudzu kicks in, sees an ide device and restores the original
link.

Is there any way to tell kudzu to just leave the cd alone?

This is the burner entry in /etc/sysconfig/hwconf:
-
class: CDROM
bus: IDE
detached: 0
device: hdc
driver: ignore
desc: "YAMAHA CRW4416E"

(changing it has no effect, it gets overwritten each time kudzu is run).

My /etc/modules.conf goes like this:

options ide-cd ignore=hdc
alias cdrom sr_mod
pre-install ide-scsi modprobe imm
pre-install sg     modprobe ide-scsi
pre-install sr_mod modprobe ide-scsi
pre-install ide-scsi modprobe ide-cd
