Bill, This was one of the problems that I was having. Seems, according to my SCSI tape software vendor, that there was a major bug in that versions' handling of SCSI tape drives and was however fixed in 2.4.17 release 31. That is what I had to go to in order for my 2 SCSI tape drives to be seen much less function, however, it had no affect on the SCSI hard drives.
