RE: How do I enable Telnet??

Hi,

	I would suggest installing and configuring ssh and then using
the PuTTy client on Windows for remote administration. Telnet is simply
plain text everything. 

	Give me five minutes on your network prior to you using telnet
into that machine and I will have whatever passwords you use to connect
to it, plus I will be able to show you everything that you did during
that session.

	ssh acts quite like telnet in terms of it being a CLI tool.

	However, if you persist in using telnet, once you have it
running, you will need to take a look at whatever firewall settings you
likely have on that machine and open up port 23 (port 22 for ssh). If
you don't have that port open, then you will never be able to connect
with telnet to the server.

	Again, I would recommend against it, but it is ultimately your
decision. You may also want to check out www.securityfocus.com prior to
doing any remote administration.

Hie All,
I have just inherited a network with a Linux box that I want to
amdinister remotely from a Windows box and each time I telnet it I get
the error message:
Cannot open a connection with 192.168.0.1 from the windoze box. 
Please help how do I enable/solve this problem. I am rather new to
Linux. I am using RH7.2
