ok guys, This is a horrible little problem, i had DRI with full 3D accel working (ati radeon) in RH7.2, and i could even play quake III from my windows partition using wine !!! But !!! stuipidly i decided to upgrade my XFree86 from 4.1.25 to 4.3......after doing this i had to rebuild my XF86config-4 file. (including dri , + correct radeon driver etc) I thought i did everything correct....but when i play glxgears...i am told "Xfree86-DRI extension missing" for my display. And glxinfo reports.....Direct rendering enabled = no ..... So i checked my XFree86.0.log file.....in this it clearly says XFree86-DRI extension in loaded, it has the correct driver "radeon" However then near the end it says "direct rendering disabled".....i cannot figure out why it is disabling it ????????? I have tryed ati driver and vesa, and i have checked the agpgart is loaded, and my kernel was already allowing DRI with Xfree86 4.1 so i am sure it is ok........ Any help you guys can offer would be appreciated.....i realise DRI is a $%$# thx james
