cron and tty

Having a problem running a script that works manually but does not work 
under cron. Its a simple script that basically logs in as another user with 
su - and then sets up some pathing and runs a few programs which it has 
rights to on the program and the tty devices to run (script works perfect if 
log in user manually). Anyway, I believe I have found out that some of the 
reason why it does not work under cron is that it shells out some programs 
to tty terminals...and cron does not like this because it does not own a 
tty. Anybody no ways around this problem.
