Hello, After fresh installation of RH7.2, when start up, it appears to hang at "Configuring kernel parameters", but it can still can get into and out of sleep. Ctrl-C helps to get pass it. Then the following message is displayed: INIT: Entering runlevel: 3 /etc/rc.d/rc: /var/run/runlevel.dir: Read-only file system Updating /etc/fstab failed to open /etc/fstab.NEW: Read-only file system [FAILED] And it then wait a long time after "Starting system logger". Finally it shows: INIT: Id "2", respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes then a line for Id "5", "6", "1", "4" ..... and never ends. My PC details: 486 DX2, 32MB IRQ devices 1 keyboard 3 com2 4 com1 5 NE2000 compatible NIC 6 Floppy controller 7 com3 (modem) 8 RTC 10 sound 11 AHA-1540 SCSI adapter 13 numeric processor 14 HDD controller 1.7GB SCSI drive on ID 0 237MB SCSI dirve on ID 1 (128MB used as swap partition) DVDROM on primary IDE (for installation) X Windows is not selected for install. Installation using either "expert" or "text" mode. Installation completed with no errors. Tried a number of different ways of installation e.g. choosing min. or default packages, using GRUB or LILO, etc., all result the same. Thank you for your kind advice.
