Usually the process involves the following:

1. use fdisk to patirion the drive
2. mkfs to create the file system
3. run 'mount' from # to see that it works
4. Add the entry to fstab sothat the system
will mount it at reboot.

Pls. read the man pages to see the options you
need to use (especiallay , mkfs)
