Once you find the correct drivers for the cards, the setup is trivial:

RH9  #  ifconfig ethX 192.168.1.1
RH7.2#  ifconfig ethX 192.168.1.2

Use 'ip addr' if you wish, and change the IP addresses to suit your needs;
that's all you have to do.

If you didn't figure it out by yourself, that means that you _REALLY_ need to
read the networking howto again... 'cos you've read it already, haven't you?
