RE: Network Problems

This is a MSWindows network in which wins is fully functional. We can see
all the computers at this particular site and access them without problems
at times.The only variable which seems to suggest something is that this
problem normally occurs around 3pm. Sending a file to this destination will
bring destination unreachable or timeout. Neither Windows nor linux will be
able to send or recieve files but you will be successfully pinging the dest

Seems to me it might be connected to name lookup failures... not enough
details, though.
A suggestion: try to get some more insight into the problem with echoping

http://echoping.sourceforge.net/

Or even better, get Trinux: it's packed full with good network
troubleshooting
tools.
