Hi! I am trying to upgrade the OS of a server. I am encountering some problems. I need some advice. Can somebody help me out? Details of the machine are: Machine: Compaq Alpha Server DS20E Dual Processor (666 MHz each) RAM: 2048 MB (1024 x 2) Total HDD capacity: 100 GB SRM Firmware Version: 6.4 (I upgraded it from Ver 5.7 a day back) Current OS: Red Hat Linux 6.2 (Zoot) New OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2 (Enigma) I have downloaded the images of the disks from: ftp://ftp2.compaq.com/pub/linux/RedHat/7.2-alpha/release-isos/ However, when I try to boot using the first disk of the new OS from SRM console using the command P00>> boot dqa0 -flags 0 I get into a problem. The X server is started followed by an error message saying Traceback (innermost last) File "/usr/bin/anaconda", line 477, in ? from splashcreen import splashScreenShow File "/usr/lib/anaconda/splashscreen.py", line 21, in ? File "/usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/gtk-py", line 2160 def set_ma SyntaxError: invalid syntax. install exited abnormally. After this, all the processes are terminated. All the file systems are also unmounted. What can I do do get rid of this problem?
