changing lan card settings to 100FD

How does one change the speed/duplex settings on the lan card? How does one
confirm the change? I checked dmesg and it says the card is set to
auto-negotiate but the switch is set at 100FD fixed. I would like to set
the card to 100FD fixed. It's the eth0 with a tlan driver.  Any help would
be appreciated.
