Search on www.google.com/linux with the exact error string gave me a solution
in the very first link reported:

> For char-major-10-135, you need 'Enhanced Real Time Clock Support' in the
>'Character Devices' Section. 

I assume that if you have enough competence to decide on your own of upgrading
your kernel, you could also be proficient enough to know how to search
around... at least for a couple of minutes :-/
