System crash when modem connection fail

Installed the pctel driver for a HPC56 modem 

$ configure
$ make clean
$ make
$ make install
$ insmod pctel
$ insmod ptserial

I dialed a phone number but if someone pickup the
phone it crashes, when I dial my isp if no carrier it
crash, if carrier but I mistype the user or password
it crash, if I do type well after a couple of minutes
it disconnect (NO DIALTONE) and crash. When I do the
insmod it says something about a tainted kernel. How
can I capture the errors when it crash.   what
information do you need to evaluate this?
