Problems with DHCP

Does anyone have experience with installing DHCP and the NetGear FA311/312
Ethernet Adapter?

I am running a new install of RedHat Linux 7.0, and am having a great deal
of difficulty with the DHCP server. I believe I have installed the driver
for the FA311 correctly as it shows up by typing the 'lsmod' command,
however it shows as "unused". Is this normal? 

I run a DSL connection and my router has a DHCP server built in. I am sure I
have configured the network settings correctly, however when I boot the
machine it gives me the error:

"Determining IP address for eth0: DHCP server unable to determine IP
address, Operation Failed"

I know that I have the correct gateway. The only information I populate in
the network settings are the gateway, DHCP turned on, and device (eth0) and
kernel module: fa311. 

I am trying to determine if the problem is with my ethernet card, or with
DHCP. I had the DHCP setup on the same box and router with Win98, and there
were no problems. Any help you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.
