Yes it can be done.
1. on clients and maybe server fillin data in /etc/yp.conf
2. On server fill in date ain /etc/ypserv.conf
3. use chkconfig on clients and maybe server to turn on ypbind
4. use chkconfig to tune on ypserv on server
5. start ypserv on server and ypbind on clents and maybe server by using
service ypbind start on clients and maybe server
service ypserv start on server

6. run make in /var/yp after checking the Makefile in that directory and turn off
shadow passwd stuff if you are not using shadow passwds.

The maybe-s for ypbind on the server depend on whether you want the server to be
also a ypclient of itself.

If this is not slear ask further.
