where is the /dev/eth0?

Hi,
Where I set the gdb for remote debuging, I set the interface to 
/dev/eth0, but there is not such a  device in the folder of /dev.
Checking with ifconfig the eth0 is work, but where is it?
I have checken more than one system, including rh7 and rh8, they all are 
same.
