Problem setting up a ppp server

Hi,

I am trying to set up a ppp server and I have worked through the various
how-to documents including the serial howto and the ppp howto. I am still
left with a couple of problems. I am using a win2k client.

I am using mgetty and it answers the modem and communicates with no
problems. I can gain shell access to my machine with no problems.

When I run ppp I have a 2 issues outstanding.

1. I cannot run ppp from any user other than root, I have done the chmod
detailed in the howto on the pppd and I have created the alias but users get
an error message.

2. When I do get a pppd session running the client has trhe wrong default
gateway setting, the gateway comes back with the same ip address as that
assigned to the client machine.

At the moment the second problem is causing the most trouble as I can get
around the first by doing an su as I am the only person using this and I
have root access anyway.

You help would be much appreciated,
