I am trying to setup two hard drives with Raid 1 setup on them. What makes this a little more difficult is that I am having to setup the raid after the fact. I already have one of the hard drives running RH 7.0 and the partitions are like this: 75 MB /boot 256 MB Swap 3.8 Gig / I want to mirror enough so that if the first hard drive goes bad the customer will not go down but be able to function from the 2nd hard drive with little to no intervention. This is very important because we have customers using the systems up to 5 hours away and they cannot have the down time. I have gone through the Non-RAID Redhat System to run on Software RAID howto article but it still fails on boot. I believe from my reading it has something to with not being able to mirror the /boot partition but I am not sure. I know that this is possible, or at least it should be but I am not finding very much comprehensive information on this. As a side note I am able to mirror the / partition with no problems. But if I unplug the first hard drive with the /boot partition simulating drive failure it will not boot (of course). If anyone has had any experience in setting this up or knows of some good resources for RAID I would be very appreciative. Thanks for any help Allan Wilson DataHouse, Inc. [email protected]
