Thank you for your suggestion. ----- Original Message ----- From: Wilson, Allan To: '[email protected]' Sent: Monday, January 20, 2003 11:38 AM Subject: RE: Red Hat problems Sounds like you are in single user mode. Try restarting the box using the following command shutdown -r -f now Which should shut the server down, do a reboot, and bring it back up the way you are used to. If this does not work let me know and I will show you how to fix the root of the problem and fix it for sure. K. Allan Wilson DataHouse, Inc. Just recently our report server stopped sending out reports. At the time we didn't have the root password so we followed the knowledge base and used lilo to reset our root password. However, after new password is entered this message appears at the next prompt "file repair (#)" each time we attempt a command it echos back same message with a new number. How do we initiate the repair to these files? We got a copy of Knoppicks Konqoueror and can view the current h/drive and found the location of the fstab on hda8. Also couldn't restore from a zip b/up as well kept getting unknown file system. A consultant advised to install a new h/drive & zip to see if we could copy the file from the existing drive. Knoppicks program see's both drives but since its read only unable to move files to new location. When attempting to restore from b/up still get unknown file system message. After installing red hat on new drive attempted to manually copy files to new drive. However, old drive hda8 isn't recognized when inputting /mnt commands and such. We've followed the commands in books and knolwedge bases to assist us but to no avail. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated at this point. Michael Kallio CSSS Inc. 800-367-2882 ext. 6357
