Just change the runlevel. GUI is runlevel 5 and text mode is runlevel 3.
So from GUI to text based mode type: # init 3
>From text based to GUI mode type :# init 5
hope this what you want

  Subject: Help

  Hi!

I have an problem which is described as below:

I have installed RedHat Linux 7.0 on my pc with Intel 810E Chipset. My default desktop is GNU. Its really good to see GUI based linux. But, what if I want to enjoy the oldies of UNIX ( i.e. text mode screen with 80 columns and 25 rows) like DOS screen.

Please, tell me, what key combination or option I should press to get to this mode and again get back to GUI mode.

  Thanking You,

  Ritesh.
