Hi Sir, Thanks for your reply, but I need to change from GUI to Textmode then what to do? What I need is something like; in Windows, when we go to command prompt, initially it shows in a window. When we press Alt+Enter we get original dos screen. At prompt whenever you type 'exit' you can again enjoy GUI. I am searching for the same kind of facility in RedHat Linux 7.0. Thanking You, Ritesh. I have installed RedHat Linux 7.0 on my pc with Intel 810E Chipset. My default desktop is GNU. Its really good to see GUI based linux. But, what if I want to enjoy the oldies of UNIX ( i.e. text mode screen with 80 columns and 25 rows) like DOS screen. Please, tell me, what key combination or option I should press to get to this mode and again get back to GUI mode. If you want to have the text console as the default, then as root edit/etc/inittab and change the default run level to 3.Change the line with initdefault in it to contain a 3:id:3:initdefaultNow when you reboot you will get a text console. You can then start X when youneed to typing startx. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more http://taxes.yahoo.com/
