inappropriate maybe....especially since multimedia keyboard key mappings
to applications really demands userlevel preferences and setup.

which browser should be tied into the keymap? which mixer application to
change the sound volume....which interface to the cd player should the
play/stop/etc keys should be used in the keymap.  

This isn't plug and go kind of stuff...this is silly tweaking stuff that
most users are going to want to have some reasonable control over....and
everyone editting their own keymaps to get that level of control is a
bit much..... 

Having 14 different key map files out there for US language logitec
wireless keyboard to get the application tie ins just right for is
overkill.  Or demenading users edit the keymap file by hand to get the
applications they want tied in is also a bit much to ask.  I dont think
keymap files were really design to have this level of control.  Much
better to run something in userspace to handle the nonstandard keys that
map directly to application execution.  lineak  or xbindkeys....make
more sense.
