I have seen similar. Booting from SCSI runs in 'emulation mode' Which is
enough to read the media in most cases as if it were a floppy. When the OS
runs, it either needs to SCSI support for your hardware compiled in or
loaded as a module. (it can be really tricky loading a module for scsi to
support the volume you just booted from) I have not attempted it.

Kinda frustrating since you can load a kernel and read the disk UNTIL the
emulation ends and the OS needs to take over. I hope this set you in the
direction you need!

Have yoiu seen a mail list to feedback on? I'd like to report a few thinkgs
