Arjan and John,

I think I fixed the problem with being unable to boot to the DVD and get 
'null' installed. I set the BIOS to treat the DVD as the first boot 
device. Duh. I also disabled Promise RAID. This got the installation 
going, but it aborted when the power management turned on and put things 
to sleep. I disabled power management and restarted the installation. It 
worked.

Total install time of 12:48 for 2443M of packages.

I'm now 'up2dating', the downloads will take a couple hours.

I'm going to see if I there is a way to get RAID working using the 
Promise circuitry. When I disabled RAID using a motherboard jumper I 
think I disabled the extra IDE connectors on the motherboard too, so 
anaconda couldn't "see" the second hard drive that was plugged into the 
primary RAID connector.
