"Show" means run the command specified and cut & past the command and 
results into your email.

Now, show the results of this:
cat /dev/sda | file  -

Like this:
[root@dugite root]# cat /dev/hda | file -
standard input:              x86 boot sector
[root@dugite root]#

You might also try:
xxd /dev/sda | head -32

Here's what my boot floppy shows:
