I think his point was that Apple and Microsoft, like Gnome and KDE,
have taken their user interface design in different directions.  The
most obvious example is in the placement and order of buttons on
dialog windows.

While I disagree with part of what Red Hat has done I do feel overall
what they are doing is needed and the right thing do do.

However what Red Hat is attempting is doomed to failure as long as
Gnome and KDE insist on increasing the differences between the 2
projects (and hence the applications written for either of them).
